The ''little Biscayne'' remains a first-rate choice for having all the advantages of this model in a small, compact and easy-to-transport format.
Traditionally from the Basque Country, around Bayonne. It is an excellent ax for felling, pruning and ground cutting. It can also make a formidable splitter.
This is a very versatile weight, lighter than the Biscayne collection but just as effective.
Produced in Portugal by the tailor Verdugo since 1928.
Since the fall of 2025, we’ve decided to strip the heads and give them a basic rough re-profiling to improve their initial condition.
We also offer the option of a handcrafted handle made in-house. If you choose this option, please specify the desired length in the order notes.
The first photo show an example of the premium Satin finish sharpening, and the last one shows the handcrafted handle — in this case, a prototype made by a customer that will serve as our model.

NB: The actual weight of the head may vary from the marked weight, as this is a semi-industrial forged tool hand-finished with a hammer on an anvil.
This axe, marked 1250g by the manufacturer, actually weighs approximately 1000-1100g.
