This vintage axe head carries the marks of time: surface rust from years of rest and a mushroomed poll — proof that it was hammered and used extensively throughout its working life.
Despite its age, the profile remains excellent for splitting. After careful restoration, the head was refined, polished, and sharpened to return to its original purpose: felling and splitting wood cleanly and with confidence.
It is now fitted to a 32-inch hickory handle, oiled with Urban Lumberjack’s Woodsman Axe Oil, giving it a beautiful “old-new” vintage finish—a balance of patina and renewed life.
For the sheer joy of it — and respect for the object and security of the user— a custom sheath was crafted using leather and wool salvaged from an old Pajar boot. A small handmade touch to protect the edge… and its story.
